An electric cigarette or electronic cigarette is a high technology electronic device which simulates smoking.

The electric cigarette provides smokers the same physical and emotional sensation as conventional cigarettes, with fewer damages than tobacco, creates no second hand smoke and is much cheaper than regular cigarettes.
The electric cigarette looks like a regular cigarette, but is not flammable, contains no tar, carbon monoxide nor many of the 4000 chemicals contained in tobacco cigarettes.
There are several types of electronic cigarettes, the two types that closer resemble the looks and experience of smoking a real cigarette use 3 piece (cartridges) and 2 piece (cartOmizer) technology.
The tree piece includes a cylinder that looks like the paper of a cigarette and contains the rechargeable battery, the electronics, a flow switch that will automatically turn on the device when inhaled and an LED that lights up to simulate the burning ashes and also serves as an indicator of various functions, like low battery, too many puffs in one minute, etc. The second part is the vaporizer or atomizer, a metallic cylinder that hides inside the cartridge. Is the cartridge that contains what is known as e-liquid, a blend with the nicotine and a flavor that can simulate any famous brand of tobacco cigarettes.

As the e-liquid soaks a heating element inside the vaporizer, while the device is being sucked, the flow switch turns on the electronics and the vaporizer, sublimating the e-liquid, creating very tiny droplets thus simulating smoke.
Electric cigarettes e-liquid contains nicotine, which is responsible of tobacco addiction, nicotine is not considered a carcinogen by the cancer society. Nicotine should be avoided, but many smokers can’t stop immediately. The electronic cigarette is a very good replacement for tobacco cigarettes, as it also helps with the oral fixation.

The smokers still get the pleasure of smoking, without most of the side effects of cigarettes.
Although the electric cigarette has not been approved by the FDA as a smoking cessation device, many users have completely replaced the cigarette and after a few months even stopped using the device.
